There has been so much talk about offshore drilling and how it is safe and then you have those environmentalist complaining that we should not allow it. Then we have all those people dying to have it. Sadly it happened, people literally died. Unfortunately the families of the deceased may have no wrongful death claims, the extent of their claims may be limited to a workers’ compensation claims and any if they were fortunate to the life insurance they may have had. This is probably the only time in recent times where we have experienced what third world countries experience on a regular basis. A foreign company came to to our country and essentially destroyed our environment and defended itself with false reports and the backing of the British government. It all resembles what our corporations do a regular basis throughout the third world. Our corporations cause damage throughout the world and leaves a trail of death and destruction. Our primarily concern is the profits, not so much the trail of death left behind. Similarly the British government is ticked off, because of the fact that BP is going to have a very unprofitable year and it will have problems for many years to come that will hurt the investors in Britain that depend on the dividends. Unfortunately we brought this on ourselves. An army of lawyers, prosecutors, experts, and politicians will surely be involved. What is guaranteed is that the top people at BP will go free and likely leave BP with a pile of money so high even my wife couldn’t spend in a life time.
