California
Labor Code prohibits deductions for cashing the employee’s paycheck
at employer's bank and may expose the employer to liability and possibly
even jail time. If you are an employer call your bank and ask if they
charge fees to cash your employee pay roll checks. Otherwise you may have
to reimburse your employees for the fees and may even end up paying
attorney fees if you are sued and possibly be charged with a misdemeanor.
